Jaded!

Have you ever had that feeling that your current job no longer gives you the satisfaction it used to and you want to do s'thing else? I bet you have!

I was with a friend last nite(Whom I shall call Y) and Y said she was "JADED" in her current job. She's fed-up w her job and is contemplating a new line altogether. Mind you, Y has reached the top of her profession and is now willing to start from the very bottom in a new job! She has even applied and gone for interviews for company secretaries and even a kindergarten teacher! I think this takes immense courage. To be the boss for so long and then to suddenly be at the other end of the spectrum is definitely a big change. Naturally, the main stumbling block here is the salary offered. Y is willing to take a huge cut from her current salary. I think she's about 29(Y, don kill me if I got yr age wrong) and married. Good luck Y!

I have been in that position b4 about 12 yrs back where I just turned my back on accounting and decided to do s'thing that did not require me to sit down for 8 hrs looking at a PC. But I cld do that as I was young and did not have much commitments.

I know many in the same boat who are just unable to take this drastic step mainly due to financial commitments and the fear of not able to find jobs b'cos of their ages. So they continue slogging along not enjoying what they do. It is such a pity b'cos we always hear sayings like Life is Short, Enjoy Life etc. Well, I guess we just have to make do, I suppose.

Trinity : Welcome to me blog, finally! Yes, easier said than done. Either get the guts to do it or suffer fer 8 hrs then do s'thing u like, like partying, dancing eh?

AD : At least I enjoy blogging! In Kerp's case, prob more than 8 hrs, sampai laptop pun hancur. By the way, stop hantaming dear old Kerplah. U are worsening his already bad reputation!

Hey Gavin I came by to see if there was any funky monkey template update *grin* - haven't gotten round to it or cold feet :))

Anyways, I am I think reached that with my job too. Jaded! Although I'm 37 and not reached the to pinnacle of my career but I've lost the interest and the drive.

I think in my case is slogging slogging slogging and come pay cheque, blink, gone pay cheque. I'm a slave to the shortlived joy of my bank account in black instead of red.

Project Management in the IT world is hell. And given the kind of shit that happens in the course of getting the project from start to finish - I think I've aged some 50 years in the last 2 years of cleaning up other peoples screw ups with hands tied and feet bound with a boulder to sink me faster.

I'm at a stage I hate coming in to work and this is a point when I realise, unless I can swing a revival for my love affair with this type of work, I'm only doing it to see that month end $$$ and for my kids - in the mean time, my kids hardly see me and when they do, I'm too exhausted to enjoy these wonder years.

This is far from what I had in mind some 10 yrs ago. So I too am looking into myself trying to find something I can give up all this slavery for and be emancipated both financially and in how I love what I do for a living...

HELP! I need to get a plan into place before I hit 40 or am doomed to slavery for life!

Ani : I did go into the sites you mentioned and loved some of it. But I was a little lazy to save the links like you said and all that, so procrastinatelah! But will do it one fine day!

I think a few billion people in the world share the same plight as you n me. Slogging day in and out for the banks : loans, credit cards etc.

I always believe that when you start hating your work and can find the most ridiculous excuse not to go to work, then it's time to do s'thing abt it. Whether it happens, is another matter altogether! Needs lot of guts and courage to do it especially when u have so many commitments.

Life sucks at times doesn't it?

it sure does Gavin - sucks big time!!!

now if all that sucking had anything to do with fellatio and cunnilingus - would that be lovely - ahahahahha

(*ooops sorry I took over from PG-18 Mohan there for a moment!*)

you're right - I work literally to give it back to the banks - GOD!!! it sucks... I so need to find a niche to use talents I have and turn them into money makers :))

Let me know when you get started Gavin - will try to help best I can :)

LLT Dude: though one this one. I keep wondering what is important in life sometimes!
The constant need to be elevated to euphoria and be contented with self-satisfaction and gratification of one's vocation compared to the need to fulfil one's responsibilities(family, making ends meet...etc).
Don't think many of us have the choice/the guts to make a sudden change, but sometimes we do and whatever we do... things turn out alright someway or rather.
Seen that happen with people going through divorces, job changes, or just simply hanging everything and starting fresh!.
Perhaps what is important is that we enjoy the journey! We're all going to be some old fart one day and looking back and laughing at our misdirections in life(albeit waiting for a liver transplant or having to piss every 10mins. because of prostate problems)... then again no matter how much we fuck up things always get better!
Anyway being stuck in something one doesn't like sure sucks..and it sucks majorly!!
You take care, M.

LLT,out of curiosity, which field are u in now?

senorita: To answer yer query, LLT is now a professional barfly & latin dancer. Good life ah this fooker.

Akuani: Completely emphatise with what yer going thru. But as Mohan & Monty Python say, "Always look on the bright side of life (*whistling tune*)" . . .

Mohan (off topic): Kindly go to me blog & answer the query - do you remember what you were doing when you heard the news . . . ?

LLT: Fook, really can't drink like me used to as you saw fer yerself last nite. Fook, this ubah gaya hidup malarkey is gonna take some getting used to.

really gd life.. not many ppl get to do what they enjoy n like for a living..

erm, so LLT just dance for a living?

Life's Like That said...

Senorita : As usual, AD loves to make life difficult for me by telling everyone I m some kind of pro dancer which I m not. I love dancing very much and have taken lessons b4. That's it! Dance for a living? How I wish! You love dancing as well don u?

To answer yr question, I am currently into building management where I help manage apartments and condos. Fell into it by co-incidence but hope to get into it big-time as there are many badly managed buildings in town. Good business opportunity!

Ani : Hey, Miss PG-18 is back! So we now have Ani, Mohan, Senorita and Tuan Kerp in d grp. AD, soon we'll have to join themlah!
Thanks for offer of help! Much needed too!

M : I am amazed w yr maturity in writings nowadays. Only 80% of wat you write abt now is abt alcohol! It used to be 99%!

I agree w u on the divorce and breaking up as well. Many know that the r'ship is heading nowhere but stay in it for reasons other than themselves. Pride, family etc.

AD : But your std has dropped so muchlah. It's like the Premier league compared to 2nd division! And please stop being my dance PR managerlah!

AD will tell everyone I m a dancer and everyone else will badger me to show my stuff on the dance floor. They even dare me to "Potong Jalan" other couples. Hey, I don wan to be whacked in d facelah!

senorita.. said...

hahah... yeah,i love dancing.. on the dancefloor in the club..

so erm, i assume u have nice ass? guys who dance have nice ass.. =P

ps:Mrs LLT, pls dun kill me.

Senorita : Wrong ass-umption! Don have nice ass. Shows you how bad my dancing is! Haha!
