We're behind you Stevie G!

I guess it must have gotten every tru-blue Liverpool fan worried now that our most influential player and captain has been charged with assault and affray for an altercation in a Liverpool Pub. My immediate thot was that this was done by an opportunist wanting to make money off a celebrity. This has happened a million times and is normally settled by a small out-of-court payment.

However, this case may be slightly different as he was locked up for quite a while and has now been charged. If convicted, he may be imprisoned for 5 years! And to add salt to the wound, the so-called "Assaulted" person was an MU scum!

Whatever it is, Stevie G, you'll always have our backing for we'll never let you walk alone!!!

Mt Kinabalu, here I come!!!

I am excited! After years of trying to get a group to climb Mt Kinabalu, I have finally managed to. Made all the bookings this week and am slated to climb the mountain at the end of Feb next year. Yahoo!

I had a little chat with the agent who did the bookings for me and I got answers like this :

Q : How fit do you need to be to climb the mountain?
A : Reasonably fit

Q : What do u mean by reasonably fit?
A : Means got exercise a bit la

Q : Exercise a bit means how much leh?
A : Means got walk and play games little bit la

Q : I walk from carpark to office considered reasonably fit meh?
A : Aiya, a bit more la

Q : How much more?
A : I think you and your group must start climbing some stairs like in Batu Caves!!!

Q : Gosh! What if one of the group members cannot continue on?
A : If he can walk, then he must walk down to the rest areas. If he injured, we call helicopter, but you must pay yourself la!

Q : What must we bring for the climb?
A : You check the net la. All the website got tell what to bring one. Even you don bring, there can rent wan!

Haha! She was by no means rude but such a funny conversation!

Ok, time to go and climb stairs......

What a great way to start the week!

Woke up this morning to the news that the Gunners had beaten the Chavs by 2-1! Heard Van Persie even scored a goal when he was clearly offside. What a great opportunity now for my beloved Liverpool to actually take the leadership of the premiership on their own, that is if they don screw it up tomorrow morning against West Ham!

Unfortunately, that scum of a team beat their neighbours City too. That just spoiled my day a little. Fortunately they are quite a bit behind us! And pretty playboy Ronaldo got sent off too for thinking he was playing basketball instead of football. Haha!

What makes a Malaysian a Malaysian!

Received this in the mail today. Hilarious!

What Makes A Malaysian A Malaysian

1. You can name all the players from the the English Premier League, but ask you to name one football player from Malaysia , one name also cannot come out.

2. When StreamyX come, you complain StreamyX too slow. When Maxis Broadband come, you complain Maxis Broadband always disconnects. When WiMax come, you complain Wimax too expensive. In the end, you say StreamyX still the best ah.

3. When toll price increase, you complain. When petrol price increase, you complain. When you go Starbucks buy RM10 coffee, NO COMPLAINTS.

4. When you cannot find parking in a shopping mall and have to walk very far, you complain. When you go inside the shopping mall and there's SALE, run from one end of 1Utama to the other also NO COMPLAINTS.

6. You are always late. And the excuse you give when you're late is always either: (a) traffic jam (b) no transport or (c) cannot find parking.

7. You have a parent who force you to take science stream in high school, study engineering in Uni, then when you graduate, they ask you to forget everything you learnt in Uni and do commerce.

8. You know someone who can specially develop a 'mat salleh' accent when speaking to a American / British / Australian.

9. You complain against the government in kopitiam, you talk loud loud. Leave anonymous comments on blogs, you also talk loud loud. Attend ceremah by DAP, you shout loud loud. Then when Opposition organise a protest and ask you to go, you dun wan. Scared later kena tangkap by ISA.

10. Every year on the 30th April, you are one of the people below queueing up last minute to submit your tax return at the IRB.

11. When you pay RM10 for something that costs RM1, you blame the Chinese.

12. When a government service is too slow, you blame the Malays.

13. When a building is not good and collapsed, you blame the Indians.

14. When a Chinese student won a scholarship, you say 'Wah! Very clever hor?' When a Malay student won a scholarship, you say 'Aiya! Of course lah! He Malay mah!'

15. When a 'mat salleh' stranger kiss you on the cheek to say hello, you very happy. When a Malaysian guy kiss you on the cheek to say hello, you slap him.

I am guilty of 1,3,7 and 10. So which one are u? Don lie!

I am back and AirAsia Promos!

Time just seems to fly past when you are on holidays doesn't it? I had a wonderful time in Krabi visiting the Islands, riding on an elephant. I also had a torrid time climbing 1,237 stairs which were at 70-80 degree angles to see a temple! But enuf of all that.

As I started flipping the local papers for the first time in 5 days, one headline jumped at me straight away : "No more fuel surcharge on Airasia flights!" for bookings made on 12-16 November. I started jumping for joy as I wanted to book another holiday straight away(Still in holiday mood ma). So I logged on the website. But as I expected, the traffic to the site must have been immense as I just could not get in. So much for the promos!

But I still have 3 more days to try so fingers crossed!

To holiday I go!

Yes! Finally I get to go for a holiday! Not a big time one to Hawaii, Europe or the like but humble Krabi in Thailand. Heard a lot of good things abt the place. Time to relax and "take in some sights", if you know what I mean!

See ya!

Crappy weekend!

I had a really bad weekend. Why? mainly b'cos Liverpool lost to the basement team in the EPL after controlling the game. Well, after seeing them hit the woodwork not once, not twice but three times, you somehow get a feeling that it is not going to be your day. I m sure millions of Liverpool fans around the world did the same thing as I when KayuCangkul scored the winner for Spurs, off the TV and to bed. The problem was I was on a mini vacation with wifey in M'cca and I had to get up with a smiling face the next morning. I think I did a good job as she didn't notice the frustration in me the next day! Phew!

Then I found out my car had some problems with the exhaust pipe and will cost me a cool RM500 to fix! #@!^$@$#$%@$%#&

Massa losing the F1 title at the last corner was another bitter pill to swallow. That cocky Hamilton w the gorgeous girlfriend(Nicole of Pussycat Dolls) didn't deserve it. He won only 5 legs to Massa's 6. Now he is rumoured to be signing endorsements worth USD200million! And he's only 23! Some guys have all the luck!

On the political side :
a)Razak Baginda acquitted
b)Public accounts c'tee clears Govt on Eurocopter purchase
c)Police raids gay party

That's enuf bitching fer now!

Police afraid of criminals!

Here we go again! Pea-brained Hamid Albar has come up with another gem! Here are his comments with regard to the closing down of a police beat base extracted from the staronline :

KUALA LUMPUR: A police beat base located in the Chow Kit area of downtown Kuala Lumpur has been shut down because the “presence of criminals could make it unsafe” for police officers.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said the beat base was located in a dirty area where police faced the possibility of being exposed to contagious diseases. The presence of criminals also posed a threat to the safety of police officers.

So, our police are now afraid of criminals? So what are we poor, unarmed rakyat to do? What the hell is our police force for?

The only thing that comes out from Albar's mouth is shit! Keep your freaking mouth shut! You have already reached the top in terms of stupidity!

What's happening now?

Each day we are bombarded with negative news abt the credit crunch hitting the world's economic markets. Stock exchanges in many countries are affected and have been registering record falls. In Wall Street(The biggest stock exch in the world), losses have exceeded ten trillion dollars(Don even know how much that is)!

Our PM and DPM claim that the KLSE has just been recording drops of just around 3% and we will be able to withstand the credit crunch. Withstand??? Banks are now reluctant to give out loans for any purpose provided you are in a financially good position. I m no financial expert, but aren't the ones not in good financial position who need the loans. Second hand car dealers are reported to be in dire straits b'cos of this.

Our leaders, instead of coming up with ideas to overcome this crisis are more interested to vie for posts in their parties. The MCA, Gerakan and UMNO are all having their elections soon. Everyone is so busy affiliating themselves with the "right people" that once again the rakyat is suffering. Has anyone brought up the fact that oil is now at USD78 a barrel? Shouldn't price of petrol be somewhere aroun RM2 now?

Our outgoing PM has made another stupid comment again. He says he will leaving in March 2009 and plans to implement what he started 5 years ago. What are they? Judicial reforms, eradication of corruption and poverty! Isn't this what he preached when he first got elected? If he couldn't do it in 5 yrs, what chance has he got in 5months!!!

Till the next posting....

What gets you irritated the most!

Due to enormous stress and a bad flu, I am in a bitching mood this time. Read an article recently about irritating traits of people. There was a long list but here is the main reasons why I get irritated with people :

a)Being late

I don't care who you are but don expect a smiling face from me if you are late, provided u have a damn good reason! I am always early or punctual for an appointment. Thus I see no reason why the other party cannot accord me the same respect. If you are going to be late, have the courtesy to call me please!

b)Fickle-mindedness

Especially bosses who ask you to prepare a working paper for projects. You have a long meeting in the day to decide on plans, spend the whole nite putting the discussion onto paper and the next morn, whoever asked you to prepare the paper decides to make a 180 degree turn! $%#@$%@$%$@#$%#%^%!!!

c)Litterbugs

People who leave litter in lifts, apartment common areas etc shd be punished, if you can catch them! It is just so blardy irritating when u get into a lift in the morning and find a bag of thrash or ciggy butts in it!

And of course :

d)POLITICIANS! - enuf said

A gift from god is free my dear PM!

Our dear PM has made a statement on this auspicious day that the release by Somali pirates of the 2 Malaysian hijacked Tankers in the gulf of Aden was a "Gift from God" for Hari Raya. Gift from God??? My dear PM, we paid ransom of USD2million for each ship to be released. The sailors were held for more than a month. After all discussions with the pirates failed even after the Navy sent 2 warships to the gulf, the ransom, as a means of last resort, was paid. Either the PM has got all his facts wrong or he has been holidaying in Mars! God does not charge for his gifts! Another one of the many stupid statements synonymous with our leaders!

I would like to wish Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to all muslims! Eat your heart out people cos I am going to open houses to gorge myself w rendang and ketupat and etc!

I used to love the Malaysia Cup.....

Once in a while, I do read abt what's happening in the world of Malaysian football. The sorry state of affairs we find our football in now is just ridiculous. The famed Merdeka Football Tournament, previously one of the most prestigious tournaments in Asia, can now only attract teams like the Philippines, Sierra Leone, Myanmar etc. South Korea and Japan used to be regulars in the tournament. And if my memory serves me right, Brazilian champions Sao Paulo took part once before. So what has caused our ratings to plunge like an anchor. I can think of a few reasons :

a)Parents obsession with academic results. Can't blame parents for wanting the best for their kids. But I am sure there is a Soh Chin Aun or a Mokhtar Dahari slogging in those tuition classes after school.

b)Safety reasons. The current spate of abductions of children has expectedly raised fears of parents allowing their children to play outdoors.

c)Computer games. Even the British govt has said that this is one of the major causes why there is a big drop in kids registering at football clubs to pursue football as a career.

d)Poor management. Just look at how many times the FAM has bailed out state FAs who have failed to pay salaries etc to their players. Recently, the FA of Sarawak is reported to owe 3.5million to the EPF, IRD and salaries to players. Now, if this is not a deterrent to a parent encouraging their kid to take up football seriously, then I donno what is.

e)Lack of a visionary leader. The Sultan of Pahang has been helming the FAM for abt 25 years now. Co-incidentally he took over from the time M'sia last had major international success, that is in 1980 when we qualified for the Olympics. He has done nothing for football in the country except make us drop down the rankings. And yet he refuses to give up his post and keeps saying that "Only Cowards Quit". That is his reason for staying on. Hello Sir, u have been brave for 25 years now and growing old. Let someone else take over for heaven's sake. It's not that your successor can do any worse!

I know how to criticise but I seriously do not know what can be done to push up our standards. Anyone out there with a magic wand?

Backstabbed!

You work with certain people and after a while, you think you know them and start to trust them. You begin to rely on them and feel they will have your back. Then slowly you find out that these ppl are actually two-faced and they start backstabbing you!

Have you experienced this before? Just went thru it today and I am just freaking mad! The ppl whom I worked my butt off for not only did not appreciate it but have begun to slowly discredit me with all kind of "Tai-Chi" statements to cover their arses. Well I wasn't going to stand for it and gave them a piece of my mind! These people have been meeting behind my back to concoct all type of stories! Well, they can go kiss my ass! I don rely on u for a living!

Sick and tired of all these hypocrites!

Profit - At what price???

Everyone gets into business to make a profit. It would be stupid if that was not your target. But how far would one go to achieve the desired profits?

The recent baby formula fiasco in China just proves how greedy some people can be. The use of Melamine in the baby formula is causing gallstones to form in the baby's kidneys. I felt for the parents whose kids have been afflicted with the problem. China's one child policy makes the suffering and grief for these parents even worse. Doesn't it make you seething mad when man's pursuit of profits is at the expense of a little child?

4 deaths and 53,000 sick babies later, the Chinese govt are on a witch-hunt to find the wrong-doers. It seems the owners have disappeared, naturally! The interesting thing to note here is that the producers, Sanlu Grp, already knew abt the problem in December 2007 and chose to ignore the complains received. I hope the Chinese authorities catch the culprits soon! I say throw them then to the parents of the 53,000 kids for justice to be served!

Another interesting thing that came out of this fiasco is that the head of Quality Control in the Chinese Govt has resigned, taking full responsibility of the incident. Now, how nice would it be if one of our ministers would do the honourable thing and take responsibility for their actions instead of blaming others! But I guess that's just fantasy thinking in Bolehland!

First slow dance!

Was out with fellow blogger "Anfield Devotee" today for a few drinks. After reminiscing about some songs from the 80's, ultimately the topic of our first slow dance came up. I remember having my first slow dance when I was 16. I was at a party and all the guys were daring each other to approach this pretty girl for a slow dance. Trying to be macho, I summmoned enuf courage to make the first move and surprisingly, she agreed to dance with me!

I can still remember her looks but not her name. Haha! When we started, a train could go pass between us! My heart skipped so many beats cos this was the first time I have ever been so near a member of the opposite sex. I guess she felt the same too cos her hands were starting to sweat or was it me??? But I had to look macho b'cos all those losers were watching me from the side and were green with envy! Slowly we danced a little closer and then started to enjoy ourselves. We danced for a good 40 mins and then stopped. Never met her again after that.

After telling my story to AD, I asked him abt his first dance. His answer : "I got RM1 a day, ate a piece of roti canai and saved 70 cents a day. End of the month bought a CD with the money saved. Never went for parties cos got no money." AIYOHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

How much sleep is enough sleep?

I can bet all of you will always hear complains like, "I don't have enough sleep". So how much sleep is actually enough? According to scientific research, an adult (18-40 years old) requires abt 6-8 hours of sleep. I have frens who can set world sleeping records. If no one wakes them, they can easily sleep till 4 or 5pm the next day. And they did not even have alcohol the nite before!!! And to that they proudly brag : I can save cost mah! Skip 2 meals!

As for me, i only require abt 5 hrs of sleep a nite. My frens say I don know how to enjoy life b'cos I sleep too little. Hey, some people like me enjoy life when I am awake, not asleep! So go sleep and don bother me!

As Sep 16 draws nearer........

All of a sudden, Sep 16 seems to be the most important day in Malaysian history. By the way, it's also my good friend's birthday! T, if u are reading this, "Happy Be-earliered Birthday!"(Just in case I forget!)

So back to Sept 16 in our nation's context. There has been a flurry of rumours going around via word of mouth and the blogs. While many of these rumours cannot be substantiated with hard facts, some developments in the country has given credence to these rumours.

a)Yesterday's press conference given by "Pendatang" Ahmad Ismail smacks of arrogance and I believe racial in nature. He still thinks he has done nothing wrong uttering the words in his speech. Worse of all, scores of UMNO members were with him! They shouted "Hidup Melayu" and even tore posters of Koh Tsu Koon and Gerakan. What is wrong with these people? We, the chinese and I am quite certain I can speak for the Indian community as well, are not here to take over your country and displace you into the backwaters of society. We just want better opportunities to pursue a better lifestyle. Is that too much to ask? We did help to build this nation as well! The PM and DPM is meeting with Ahmad today and action will be taken against him. We await anxiously.......

b)Gerakan has severed ties with Penang UMNO while the MCA has severed ties with the Bukit Bendera UMNO division. Now doesn't this seem odd? You sever ties with UMNO Penang but you are still in the BN coalition? WTF? FYI, the PM is fm Penang and is the head of Penang UMNO. Does this mean that you do not want to have ties with the PM as well? If that is so, then the Gerakan shd get out of BN! As for the running dogs MCA, stop putting up a "Sandiwara" and grow a backbone. Who cares abt you anymore anyway!

c)The so called "Lawatan Sambil Belajar" by 50 MPs today to Taiwan is another example of how our hard-earned money is being wasted. The Govt has mentioned that the MPs are paying for the trips themselves. Please, don treat us as retards just b'cos u are! You expect us to believe that? I am amazed that this trip can be cooked up in a week. Normally trips like this would have to be planned way in advance, But Malaysia Boleh! And the timing is just perfect! Middle of Ramadan and also over Sep 16! So what is it that the MPs are planning to learn from this trip? Would love to see the itinerary of the trip. Shopping? Anyway, is this trip going to stop any MPs from crossing over?

d)The Court's decision to nullify Joseph Kurup's win in the general election is interesting. The by-election to be held soon would tell us if the PR has made inroads into Sabah, who has been a Barisan stronghold. But what irked me the most is Bung Mokhtar's comments. He said that he is sure the people of Sabah will rally around the BN b'cos they did not want chaos like the people of Permatang Pauh! That is a total insult to the people of PP! They voted for change not for chaos! They voted for a govt with good governance not a crap govt! They voted for a better future! Since this is a season of apologies, Mr Bung shd apologise to the people of PP. Oh I forgot, the people of BN can just shoot of whatever they want fm their mouths! They will just be told to "Jangan buat lagi"

So let's await Sep 16 together!

Permatang Pauh has spoken for Malaysians!

One thing that can definitely be concluded from the recent PP by-elections is : The people of Malaysia hate the BN govt and the PM even more than 6 months ago!

Why do we hate you more?

1)You and your ministers still continue to take Malaysians as fools. Your ministers continues to make the stupidest(I suppose it goes with their low IQ levels) statements and actually believe that the rakyat at this time and day will believe them!

2)Your budget stinks and there is no benefits whatsoever for the middle class earners. I suppose this is your way of telling the middle class who did not vote for you in the last elections : "This is wat u get for not voting us!" Trust me, judging by the sentiments going around now, you will never get this group's votes again! Period! One more thing, which freaking household has less than RM20 consumption of electricity???

3)Your election strategy and tactics are just a disgrace. You utilise the whole govt machinery and limitless funds trying to win a by-election that you term as unimportant. You go through the lowest ebbs possible to discredit one man who has the balls to stand up against you. When it doesn't go well, u just make them disappear either by C4 or other means possible (Wonder where PI Bala is now). Your shameless use of the media and draconian laws like the ISA, OSA and the Publishing and Printing Acts is just despicable!

4)Your toothless tiger ACA seems to have grown some baby teeth now. They seem to be arresting lower level staff and runners in Puspakom. Today, even a state assemblyman was arrested for allegedly taking a RM2,000 bribe. Bravo! Now that you have caught the little fall guys, what abt going after those who have "prospered" in the PKFZ fiasco, Perwaja Steel mismanagement, Monsoon Cup Yacht Race waste of money, MRR2 highway defects and many more where millions and billions have been lost. For that matter, what happened to the AG report 2007 where screwdrivers were sold for 10 times their price? Once again, stop taking us for idiots! We want you to go after the major culprits, even if they are close to you or related to u Mr PM!

I seriously don see anything changing in the near future with this current bunch of arseholes running our country. I may not be your biggest fan DSAI, but the ppl have put you in the parliament, so go put your words into action!

We are waiting......

Monday, August 25, 2008

What next after Permatang Pauh?

So the big day has arrived! Anwar Ibrahim is expected to be voted back into parliament with a resounding majority. If DSAI wins as expected, what will happen next?

a)Will we finally see the crossovers from BN to enable PR to form the government and DSAI be the PM by Sep 16?

b)Will the BN spin-masters cook up more ridiculous attempts to discredit DSAI like the ridiculous "Pretty Boy" Saiful case?

c)Will Anwar be able to fight-off those ridiculous sodomy charges against him?

And if Anwar loses?

Gosh! Just pack up and leave the country!

Is it worth coming back to work?

The govt has been asking M'sian professionals working overseas to return and serve in our country. They have promised many sweeteners in their attempts to get these pros back. Here is the story of a friend of mine T, a surgeon.

T had been working in London and decided to take up our govt's offer to return. That's when his nightmare started. First it took the health ministry 6 months to decide which hospital to assign him to!

T, being a workaholic, then decided to work longer hours to shorten the waiting list of patients needing operations. To do this, he had to get the hospital staff to work longer hours as well. He could not get anyone to work even when he wanted to fork out his own money to pay them. Their punctuality was another bane to him. Scheduled operations were delayed b'cos staff were not punctual!

Then, the hospital staff started awful rumours abt him which made him even more furious. He is starting to regret the fact that he returned to M'sia.

So, low salaries are not the only reason that our pros are reluctant to return to M'sia. The platform for them to produce their best work has to be there and local staff mentality has to be upgraded to a higher level. If this is not done, we can forget abt more M'sians coming to serve in our country!

Is there a difference?

Been reading quite a bit abt our country's politics and as usual, it is one big circus. Don wan to comment on that but would like to write about whether there has been a noticeable difference in states taken over by the Pakatan Rakyat, things that politicians ARE elected to do!

It has been more than 6 months now since the elections. It might be a short time period but some bloggers have mentioned that there has been a difference in their constituencies. I am staying in Pusat Bandar Puchong and so far I have not noticed any changes. But some in Bangsar and other states have said streets are now cleaner, more basic amenities have been provided and many new projects are in the pipeline. Friends from Penang too have been telling me that the PR reps are more easily accessible than the BN reps. Selangor has free water. So do u think the PR is doing a good job? Personally, I think for the 6 months period, they have been doing a pretty good job.

A good friend of mine has started a drive to get more people to register as voters as he anticipates that there will be a snap election sometime soon(Shd DSAI manage to get BN MPs to crossover). I don't know if that will happen, but if it does, then we shd all practice our democratic rights and let the Powers-To-Be know that the rakyat is not interested in their political mud-slinging and dramas. All we want is equal opportunities and a decent life. So go get registered in any Post Office and wait for the next interesting episode in this drama called "Malaysian politics!"

Plain stupid!

Today, I witnessed something amazingly stupid. I was driving in Puchong headed towards the LDP when I noticed that a motorcycle abt 50m ahead of me going very slowly. A young malay couple was on the bike. All of a sudden this girl jumps off the bike in tears and runs towards the middle of the road, apparently trying to kill herself b'cos she stopped in the middle with her hands held wide. Fortunately, there weren't many cars on the road at the time and those that were, managed to swerve to avoid her. While this was going on, her partner, boyfren or whatever, gets off his bike and chases after her!(Like Tamil filmlah!). He reaches her and manages to pull her back to the side of the road. All the drivers that stopped their cars to witness this, me included, just shook their heads in disbelief and drove on.

So, is she trying to prove a point or just being stupid? As for me, it is resoundingly stupid! Imagine the mess she would have caused. Just wondering, if a driver out there knocks this girl and his car gets damaged, how to claim for damages leh? If I claim from my insurance company, then I lose my NCB. Any experts out there?

Speed and adrenaline!

I had quite an experience last night. Went out for dinner with a friend last nite who had just purchased a brand new spanking BMW Z4 roadster. After dinner, he said, "Wanna take the wheels for a spin?" I said "ok". I did not know that his "spin" was to get on the highway and drive all the way to Tanjung Malim!!!

When we got into the highway via Jalan Duta, he stopped at the side. He lowered the top and I was complaining b'cos hey this is M'sia and u don drive with your top down unless u wan to lose 5 years of your life from pollution! He said, "Relax Bro and hold on tight". Then off we went! He was weaving in and out of traffic and on clear stretches my heart almost dropped as the speedometer touched 240km/h!!! And all this with the roof down! Guess how long it took us to reach Tg Malim? 18 freaking minutes! And the roads were not exactly clear all the way! I think my errrr.....man-defining parts was almost at my throat at times!

The best part was yet to come. When we reached Tg Malim, had a teh tarik and decided to head back, he said, "Bro, here are the keys. Your turn!" Alrite!!!!! Eased into the highway and the machine handled like a dream. Extremely stable due to low centre of gravity and very steering-sensitive. After familiarising meself with the car, I started to accelerate. 140, 150, 160. Don feel a thing! Then 170, 180 and finally 200! I have finally driven 200km/h on a road car! Then went to 220 and decided, alrite boy u've had your moment of fun and it's time to reach home safely. Couldn't do the journey in 18 mins, only 30 mins. Still pretty fast tho!

Yeah, me and the Z4. You and me will be re-united again!

Is it perception or fact?

Why do local companies think that foreigners are better employees? I am sure you have heard of foreigners being employed in being paid triple or quadruple the salary of a local for doing the same job. Are they really that good? Are locals really inferior, esp compared to the "Gwai-Lo"?

One of my previous employers did employ a "Gwai-lo" thinking he could do a much better job. Paid him in USD and provided him w apartment and car as well. Was he really worth it? No way! He was good in his work but I am sure my boss could have found a Malaysian who is just as capable if he was willing to pay a little more than market rate(Still much lower than the amount paid to the Gwai-Lo). My boss kept on singing praises for him and this caused a very tense working environment as the other staff started to distance themselves from Gwai-Lo. Eventually many left. Donno whether he is still there.

My friend who works in ESPN Singapore was also unfortunate as he and abt 20 others(All locals) were laid off b'cos of cost cutting measures. The word was ESPN was spending a bomb on football pundits like Steve McMahon and all the other former footballers they invite as guest pundits. Thus to cut costs, someone had to make way and unfortunately it was the locals. I wonder how much our Shebby Singh gets paid!

Sigh..... Are we really inferior to the "Gwai-Los". I certainly don think so but then why are employers willing to pay so much for foreigners but unwilling to go a little higher for locals? Inferiority Complex? U tell me! The only area which I feel most Gwai-los have advantage over us is their PR skills!

Do you think Keane is a good buy?

Liverpool signed Robbie Keane today for 20.3m quid. Finally, we have signed someone of stature. This signing has got me a little excited as I think he wld complement Torres nicely. But then, what wld Rafa's formation be? Will he play two strikers upfront now or stick to his 4-5-1? Can Gerrard, Keane and Torres all play together? It would be exciting to find out once the season starts. Can't wait!

PS : To David Levy(Spurs chairman), who claims that Liverpool "robbed" Keane from Spurs, stop dreaming! You got 20m quid for him, so shut up and go and buy 10 new players like you do every year!(And still fail to finish in top 6)

Should Joey Barton be given another chance?

I read today that Joey Barton(JB) is to be released from prison soon. He got out early from his 6 months prison sentence due to good behaviour. Good Behaviour??? Joey Barton and good behaviour cannot be mentioned in the same sentence. To the uninitiated, JB is one of the most indisciplined players ever to play in the English Premier League. He has stubbed a junior player's eye with a cigarette, beaten up people after drinking sessions at local pubs, bared his bottom to opposing team supporters and beaten teammate's faces to a pulp in training(That's y he was sentenced to 6 months prison term).

His manager in Newcastle, Kevin Keegan is hoping he has learnt his lesson and is welcoming him back with open arms(Obviously cos Newcastle paid s'thing like 10m quid for him). My question here is, do you think he deserves another chance? My personal opinion is he shd be banned from football for good. He is a disgrace to the game as he just continues to get himself into trouble each time he is given another chance. I am all for giving people opportunities to repent but JB is just beyond help. I can't think of another player with as bad a disciplinary record as him. So Keegan, sack him please!

A ray of sunlight!

With all the political gloom hovering over us daily, it is such a breath of fresh air when you read abt Malaysians that bring glory to our country. Over the past 2 weeks, our sportsmen/women have brought tremendous success to our country. Unfortunately they have been put in the shade due to the coverage given to our political circus. I would like to salute the following :

1)GAVIN Kyle Green(Golf) - winner of the under-14 World Golf Championships in the US

2)Men's senior and junior 5-men bowling teams - Winner of the World Bowling Championships 2008 (Senior) and Junior Asian Championships 2008 (Junior)

3)Nicol David(World No 1), Ong Beng Hee(World no 9) and Azlan Iskandar(World no 10)

4)Men's archery team - Silver medallist in recent world championships and world no 4.

To all these people : Great job! Best of luck and thank you for bringing us positive news!

New Malaysian words!

Received this in the mail today. Hilarious!!!

Words Malaysians can incorporate into their daily lives:

"Anwarized" - meaning: To get back-stabbed.. i.e. People who have been anwarized may contact the DPM's hotline

"Badawized" - meaning: To be stupified ...........i.e. Malaysians seem to be badawized by the media which reports biased news

"Najibbed" - meaning: To be blown to bits .....i.e. In this country, you better be careful with what you say, you can be najibbed otherwise

"Petrad" - meaning: To be exposed ...........i.e. Lately the BN coalition has been petrad in many ways

"KayJayed" - meaning: To shout for no reason i.e. He kayjayed in the Dewan and appeared like a moron

"Balaed" - meaning: To vanish suddenly i.e. They opposition balaed from the meeting in protest

"Lingamed" - meaning: To repeat redundantly i.e. The Information Minister lingamed the same rubbish in the debate recently.

"Soileked" - meaning: To be caught on tape i.e. People have stopped using budget hotels as they are afraid of being soileked.

As short Malaysian fiction :
Altantuya was cold bloodedly najibbed after she attempted to petra Najib for anwarising her and not making the promised payments.
Razak was badawized into covering up for Najib while Najib balaed from the scene. Razak was actually anwarized.
However Najib lingamed that he had nothing to do with it and has been kayjaying on the topic in an attempt to prove his innocence.
Nevertheless, some quarters have been threatening that they have soileked evidence that Najib was involved.

To Love Malaysia, is to know Malaysia"

Oops! Slight mistake!

In my previous blog, I mentioned that the PM and DPM has approved purchase of Trengganu's infamous Mercedez Benzs. Sorry, my mistake. But wait! The story now is that they have not approved it for the Trengganu's State exco but these cars are only for the usage of foreign dignitaries and on official functions only! My questions now are :

1)How many foreign visitors does the Trengganu state govt get in a month?
2)Even if there are, what official functions do they attend other than state dinners etc? R u saying that these VIPs will have to use other vehicles when they go sight-seeing?
3)While waiting for foreign dignitaries, are these cars going to be left idle and rot in some garage somewhere?
4)3.43m has been wasted. Is anyone going to be accountable for it or is everyone going to get off scot-free as usual?

I have a better idea. Why don the govt give these cars to any Malaysian or organisation who has brought glory to the nation? Sportsmen/women like Nicol David or our national bowlers deserve them. Our Everest conquerors deserve them. Charitable organisations who can sell these cars and put the funds to good use deserve them. And please no one tell me our space monkey Sheikh deserves it. I will smack u in the mouth!

Enough is enough!

That's it! My self-imposed strike for writing anything political is over. I just couldn't take it anymore after reading about our current political situation in cyberspace, print and electronic media. I have to let my frustrations out big time(via writing onlylah)!

1)Malaysiakini reported this afternoon that the PM and DPM have given the go-ahead to the Trengganu state govt to purchase the Mercs despite all the protests received. Can u believe this? Just one day after saying that all members of govt must purchase locally made cars, the PM gives his approval for this blatant waste of money. Now that the precedent has been set, I can foresee that all other state govts have no reason not to follow suit. Doesn't it feel like your gut is being ripped out when these things happen? We are trying to save in every way we can but these morons go on wasting our money.

2)I would also like to take out my frustration with that spineless UMNO dog, MCA. I remember b4 the elections that they were criticising the DAP for working with PAS. Now that UMNO are having talks with PAS or "Muzakarah" they call it, where are you MCA? No guts to say anything against your bosses? No testicular fortitude(Balls for short) to do it? Please don claim you are fighting for the rights of the Chinese when you are just a spineless hypocrite. Go continue licking the arses of UMNO. We have already shown u what we thot of u on Mar 8. The next election, u will cease to exist at this rate.

3)When the PM announced his famous "FUEL PRICE HIKE" recently, he confidently(or not) stated that inflation could be maintained at the low single digits. You were thinking with your arse again weren't u? Once again, as usual, u have been proven wrong as it is now 7.7%! Anyone with half a brain can tell you that a 40% increase in fuel price wld have immense chain effects. Oh, I forgot, u don even have half a brain! Atleast then get supporting staff that have some brains! When are you going to get your facts right? Shape up or ship out no longer applies to u. You don have a choice now. Get out!!!

More to come when my anger recedes......

What do you fear most?

The chairman of my previous company overheard a conversation between a few colleagues and myself about ghosts. One lady was mentioning abt how afraid she was when she experienced s'thing eerie. To this, my chairman said, "You have more to fear from the living than the dead! More hurt has been caused by the living than the dead!". I have remembered this comment even tho I heard it abt 10 years ago.

Why bring this up? I visited my brother-in-law today in the hospital after his surgery. I remembered the times when I was really afraid to visit hospitals b'cos of all the nasty and grandmother stories u hear occuring there. Don go if you are sick(Cos your defences are weak and bad spirits may take over yr body), there are spirits roaming everywhere, women with period will attract these spirits etc. Since I have overcome my fears abt hospitals, I began to wonder what do I fear nowadays. Death? Not really as I am one who believes in fate. If your time is up, there ain't nothing you can do abt it!

As I was walking in the hospital, I passed by some patients who had lost an arm or a leg, some patients going around with some machines attached to their bodies and patients being taken care of by their loved ones. Then I realised what I feared. I do not want to be a burden to my family. I have heard stories where life-savings were spent to try and cure sickness but were futile. I have also heard of the stress family members go through taking care of terminally-ill members of family. So I said a silent prayer, if my time is up, just let it be quick!

PS : I also fear Liverpool not winning another league title during my lifetime.

Datuk Nicol David!

Nicol David, our national squash queen, was recently awarded the title Datuk. There have been ramblings in coffeeshops and on the net recently that at 25, she is too young to be given the title.

Too young??? Bollocks! She has done more to promote our sporting image in the world than our footballers, hockey players or any other sport put together! She is 2-time world squash champion and her list of achievements are amazing. The world squash fraternity is of the opinion that she will be one of the greatest squash players to have ever played the game. And there are people questioning her award? If there is one they shd question, it must be the one awarded to our space monkey, Sheikh Muzaffar(Hope spelling is rite)! What did he do? He wasted 40million of taxpayer's money to be a space tourist and contributed nothing in return except make us a laughing stock! To me, Nicol deserves hers ten times over!

And remember, if you are good enough, you are old enough! Keep it up Nicol!

Jaded!

Have you ever had that feeling that your current job no longer gives you the satisfaction it used to and you want to do s'thing else? I bet you have!

I was with a friend last nite(Whom I shall call Y) and Y said she was "JADED" in her current job. She's fed-up w her job and is contemplating a new line altogether. Mind you, Y has reached the top of her profession and is now willing to start from the very bottom in a new job! She has even applied and gone for interviews for company secretaries and even a kindergarten teacher! I think this takes immense courage. To be the boss for so long and then to suddenly be at the other end of the spectrum is definitely a big change. Naturally, the main stumbling block here is the salary offered. Y is willing to take a huge cut from her current salary. I think she's about 29(Y, don kill me if I got yr age wrong) and married. Good luck Y!

I have been in that position b4 about 12 yrs back where I just turned my back on accounting and decided to do s'thing that did not require me to sit down for 8 hrs looking at a PC. But I cld do that as I was young and did not have much commitments.

I know many in the same boat who are just unable to take this drastic step mainly due to financial commitments and the fear of not able to find jobs b'cos of their ages. So they continue slogging along not enjoying what they do. It is such a pity b'cos we always hear sayings like Life is Short, Enjoy Life etc. Well, I guess we just have to make do, I suppose.

What's the difference between 20 and 50 mins????

Once again, another one of our so-called "leaders" has made a statement beyond believe! The moronic Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wan Farid Wan Salleh was asked why Anwar was arrested before the 2pm deadline the police gave him and his reply was, "What's the difference between 20 and 50 mins?"

I don even know how he came up with that statement. If you tell your subordinate you want something done by 2pm, you don go yank him off his chair and demand it at 1pm do u? To call Farid a donkey would be an insult to donkeys worldwide. In fact to call him anything else would be an insult to anything else! here are some other facts of the arrest :

1)Firstly, a govt department is actually early and so efficient. To arrest Anwar at 12.55pm they would probably have had a briefing at say 11am. If all other govt offices was as efficient as our police force, we wld have the most efficient govt service in the world!

2)Secondly, it took 15 police vehicles to go arrest a 60 yr old man. Who was he with? His lawyer, driver and his bodyguard! In fact the UTK(Unit Tindak Khas, which is the elite police anti-terrorist force) with balaclavas was also involved. Now, if only the police was so efficient when a snatch theft happens, when a goldsmith shop is robbed by gun-toting robbers, when a child is being kidnapped by some sick person, when a minister is taking illicit bribes etc, then that wld be great! But they are only efficient at arresting old men who are of no harm to them and setting up fucking roadblocks who is a nuisance to all and sundry.

As for our other leaders who have suddenly gone into hiding while all this is going on, let me tell you this. If another election was to be held soon, you can be guaranteed that all your farking arses would be in the unemployment line!

PS : Recently, I participated in a blog where the question of what could be done in 3 mins was asked. There were so many things mention. And the donkey Farid says what's the diff between 20 and 50 mins!

Hats off to you Anwar Ibrahim!

Well, the long awaited debate between Anwar and Shabery Chik has ended. My thots? Anwar debated as we knew he could. Unfortunately we also found out that another one of our ministers is even dumber than a donkey(To go with Badawi, Albar, Nazri etc)! I don know whether the questions were too difficult for Shabery or he did not hear them. I don think he answered any of the questions thrown at him and his continued personal attacks at Anwar clearly showed he did not have any facts to counter Anwar's claims. My blood boiled to find out that our country is run by another goon, moron, imbecile or whatever you called them! And as my wife says, the sight of his saliva coming out thru the sides of his mouth is just disgusting!

As for Anwar, I think it was brilliant that he used the one opportunity he had with the mass-media to show the whole country what he was all about. He never used personal attacks and was never fiery as we see him during his speeches. He made moderate statements which I think would appeal to many in the outskirts of town. In short he definitely scored with the public! Smart man!

Based on the brief 40 mins or so debate, what was proposed by Anwar may be workable. It is always difficult to renegotiate contracts as the problem of compensation will always crop up. The IPPs have had it good for so long and they will not relent easily. But hey, all good things muct come to an end!

So Badawi and Najib, after watching your "ma-chai" get thrashed by Anwar, are you ready to defend UMNO and BN by debating Anwar? Nah..... I doubt you have the testicular fortitude to do so. Maybe you can send your other donkeys like Albar and Nazri to do it and let us all have another big laugh!

Our police force is crap!

I just cannot believe at what we are paying our police force to do. They are paid to lower crimes, make our streets a little safer, make it safe for our kids to play at playgrounds etc. Blardy crap job they are doing! Crime is at an all time high and we can't even walk on the streets w'out the thought of being the next snatch theft victim! What are our cops best known for now? Yes, setting up roadblocks everytime a non-govermental orgn so much whispers that there is going to be a gathering. They do not care that massive jams are caused. In fact they blame the opposition for the jams. BLARDY, BLARDY HELL! Do u think we are all still dumb! Having roadblocks on a monday morning and making half the working population late for work is seriously dumb. Obviously, u are following orders. And I am also indirectly blaming the dumb arse bosses that u have!(U know who I am talking abt. Don even wan to give him too much internet time!)

Crap govt, crap leaders, crap police force!

Super bloggers meet!

Attended a "Dinner and Drink" nite last nite. It was a meet for all the contributors to this blog called "Fer Fook's Sake". We met at this restaurant called Fatty Crab in Taman Megah. it was just weird when we started introducing each other. We used our real names and we were like yes...err.... I m Life's like that! Oh yesh and I am so and so! We had to use our blog names! After the intros we got down to the serious business of drinking, and drinking and drinking. Mind u, this was at 5pm! Oh yes, the food was excellent too. We had crabs, chicken wings, prawns, satay etc. Delicious!!!!!!

Abt 25 ppl turned up and we had a blast talking football. Needless to say, the non-Liverpool supporters took a lot of stick from the majority Liverpool fans there. We took 3 tables and by 8pm, there was a long line of customers waiting for tables. They must have been cursing us for taking 3 tables! Well, we are paying customers too!

Then we proceeded to a nearby bar. I went ahd with 2 other guys. When we went in, there was abt 6 pplin it. The waitress saunters over and asks, "Table fer 3?". I said "25". And she gives me the "Gila" look. That's when the rest of the troops came in and she hurriedly goes off to get her colleagues to set tables for us.

It ended close to midnite and I must say that it was a very enjoyable nite! Can't wait to have the next one. Anyone out there organising something like this? HAha! Just looking fer an excuse to party!

Sick leave and you lucky women!

Have you ever had a staff or colleague who is perpetually on sick leave or more popularly known in M'sia as MC? Doesn't it get irritating when you have everything planned and suddenly u have to change them b'cos he/she suspiciously calls in sick?
Well, for those for really are stricken with some sort of sickness, by all means do take MC. I am talking abt those who seem to fall sick almost every other week! They seem determined to fulfill the amt of MC days allowed in their contract of employment(Ranging from 14-21 days). I have a staff who is like that and I am at wit's end trying to sort it out. She does hand in MC's so legally there's nothing I can do abt it! Grrrrr.........

I remember a fren of mine who works in Maybank telling me that her company actually allows 30 days of MC and 90 days maternity leave. She says if she plans everything out well, she could get a full year's pay for 4 month's work! How? Get pregnant twice in the same year and maximise MC days. That's 7 month's off! Add the public holidays and Saturday and Sundays, it's just 4 month's work or less!

I told her : GOOD LUCK!

PS : Do you know that in the Scandinavian countries like Sweden, Finland and Norway, husbands get paternity leave for 3 weeks to take care of wife and child? That shd absolutely be implemented here!

Govt attacking bloggers again!

Many may have noticed that over the past 2 days the PM and his cohorts have started attacking bloggers again, calling them nuisances and spreader of lies etc. The PM has asked the public not to believe these blogs and to stop reading them. My questions are :

1)Are bloggers the cause of all the hardship we are suffering now?

2)If we stop reading or believing them, will it put more money into our pockets?

3)Shouldn't the blogs be a good way for the govt to see how the rakyat feels abt their performance, i.e. A REAL REPORT CARD!

4)Why don the PM stop pointing fingers at others for the cause of our hardships and take responsibility for a change?

5)Do u think everything we blog abt are lies? Why don u spend some time checking if what you, your cronies, your son-in-law are doing is beneficial to the rakyat or just plain greed on their side?

Any responsible and caring govt would turn to blogs to see how the rakyat is feeling. It is the best way. When so many is saying the same thing, there has got to be some truth in it!

Today, another clown they call a minister had this to say abt bloggers. Well, when the head is a moron, you can't expect his followers to be any smarter, can you?

KUALA LUMPUR: Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal has hit out at blogs, saying they made the recent demonstrations worse.

He also described the culture of believing everything one read in blogs to be the truth as unhealthy and what made it worse was that the inaccurate information was passed on to others.

“One post may say a person stole RM10 and that amount might end up being RM100 when it got around. That is how inaccurate blogs can be,” he said after the ministry’s monthly assembly at the National Museum yesterday.

Shafie said the recent demonstrations were “compounded” by blogs. “These things do not bring any good to the country,” he said

Yes Mr Minister, it is all the blogger's fault. The inefficient, crony-istic, self-serving and greedy govt had nothing to do with it!

Bicycle anyone?

First, it was the bus transport companies, then the airlines and school bus drivers who increased prices. I guess it was not shocking to hear that taxi drivers have now increased charges on their own without the approval of our dear gomen. According to the gomen, prices of NGV fuel has not increased, so taxi drivers have no reason to increase prices. Really? It must be naive to believe that taxi drivers won't be affected by rising food prices, electricity tariffs and all others related to the fuel hike. They have stopped using meters and are charging fares they deem are suitable. For example, a trip from Sungei Wang to KLCC now costs RM25! Sigh! What can we do? Altho there are a few bad apples among the taxi drivers, I do sympathise with the majority of them.

If this goes on, I think the bicycle may just make a big return soon!

4 day week!

I read with great interest this morning about the ways various people, states and govts are using to combat rising oil prices in the world.

The state of Utah in the US has issued an order that all state govt agencies will only work 4-day weeks. This is to allow saving on electricity and employee's gasoline expenses. Employees will now work 10 hr days and get Fridays off. This trial is for a year and if successful will be implemented fully. Other states in the US are closely monitoring this event to see if it is feasible.

I started to wonder if it will work in M'sia. After 5 minutes thot, I concluded, NO WAY! Why? These are my reasons(the funny side of it) :

a)The govt employees(GE) will now treat Thursdays as Fridays and work 3 and a half days only.

b)The GE's will now decide to all go shopping on Fridays and make the jams even worse, just like if there is a public holiday in S'gor and all Selangoreans will throng the shopping centres in KL.

c)The GE's will now have another reason to be inefficient on Mondays. Phrases like, "Aiyo dah rest 3 hari, susah nak start kerja baliklah. susah nak start enjin" will be commonly heard. As opposed to before, "Cuti sabtu, ahad tak cukuplah. Baru nak rilek, dah kena start kerja! Boring lah"

Haha....Anyone care to add?

The Big Picture!

We have been swamped with news of Anwar everyday in the media for the past week. Every blog I visited seems to be commenting on this issue too. That's why I have refrained from writing abt it here cos it seems like an overdose. However, i have been writing in other blogs what I think abt this whole issue and have received many a stinging rebuke abt it. Here's what I think :

1) There are 2 schools of thot abt who is the puppetmaster here. For me, if it is Anwar, then I think his greed for power and international recognition knows no bounds. Is this what we want in a leader to steer us out of the current economic struggles of our country? If Bodohwi or Najib is behind this, it shows the rakyat's decision to kick them out on Mar 8 is correct. They are inept, self-serving, greedy, crony-centred, arrogant and stupid as well! So the question is : Who is capable of running this country? I have no freakin idea!!!

2) Me questioning the credibility of Anwar doesn't mean that I m a BN supporter. I am just exercising my rights as a citizen to ensure that the best man is elected to govern. In this case, Anwar is not even an elected rep yet! I am 100% sure that the current crop of leaders are uselesss and shd be removed en bloc. Never before has the country been in such a mess(except May 13) and the rakyat is suffering.

3) I am all for giving an opportunity to Pakatan to govern states and the country, if at all it materialises. Take away Anwar(shd anything happen to him), who in the Pakatan has the ability to run the country? Kit Siang? Azmin? Nik Aziz? I don think so. This is where my concern lies.

4) My biggest concern at the moment is all this is throwing a mask over other issues affecting the country. Rising prices, postponement of so called, "Non-people centric" projects like the Penang monorail and PORR(Still baffles me), the Altantuya murder case(In which our dear old Najib and wife has surprisingly not hit back as hard as I thot they wld at RPK) etc.

Our political situation is all like a big circus! It is shameful and has got me angry, disgusted, dissapointed(understatement), ashamed and at times tearful. When are they going to make me proud as a Malaysian. I hope I have that chance in my lifetime.

New word in dictionary!

Received this e-mail today :

There are possible plans underway to apply to the Oxford and Webster to include a new word for their 2009
dictionary:

badawi [baa-daa-wee] (noun):
To start something full of promise but end in disappointment, failure and/or disaster.

Eg:

'I'm trusting you to perform this task well; don't do a badawi, ok?'

'Whatever I do, I will always find a way to badawise it.'

France badawied their Euro 2008 campaign. England pre-badawied theirs, while Italy were guilty of over-badawification.

Haha! Really funny. Shall start using this noun soon!

Finally some transfer news for Liverpool!

Well people and success-starved Liverpool fans, there is finally some good news on the transfer front. It is rumoured that Spurs skipper Robbie Keane is on his way to Anfield. I think he would make a good strike partner for Torres and also for Gerrard bombing from midfield. He holds on to the ball well and can also score himself. Am hopeful transfer will happen.

As for Gareth Barry, it seems Aston Villa is now demanding 18mil for him. I say forget it and get someone else. David Villa is valued at only 20mil, Barry at 18m? Villa had better get a reality check!

And Chelsea : As usual, they r trying to buy the whole world again. Deco has joined them. Rumour has it that they are also after Robinho, Ronaldinho, Arshavin and the whole Spanish Euro Team! Surprisingly, the Scum team has been relatively quiet. Must be trying really hard to make Ronaldo stay! My advice, let the spoilt brat leave and make loads of money out of himlah! No player is bigger than the team!

Anything but politics!

I have visited quite a few blogs today and almost 99% of them are writing or commenting on the current political situation in our country. I say enuf of that and let's talk abt some other things.

Genting has been bringing in so-called "International Stars" to perform quite frequently. Engelbert, Air Supply and most recently The Osmonds!!!!! What's wrong with that senario? They are all grandfathers or soon to be! They also brought in stars of the 80's recently like Paul Young, Bananarama and Limahl! They were so out of shape and out of sync that many fans left b4 the end of the concert. Why can't they bring the current superstars? Costs? Strict performing guidelines? Us being perceived as a muslim country by the west? I donno.

I visited a doctor yesterday to get some medicine because I had some allergy attacks. It was all because I was too greedy and ate some prawns that I shouldn't have. Damn! The itch was unbearable! Ok, enuf of that. My question is : Why do all doctors have incomprehensible handwriting? Couldn't read a single word the doc wrote. A doc friend of mine has terrible handwriting as well. Is it a pre-requisite for being a doctor? This has been bugging me for the longest time. Why? Why? Why?

Are they worth it?

I just finished watching "What happens in Vegas" starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher. It was quite funny but not s'thing that you are going to remember 2 month's down the line. Then I remembered that I had read somewhere that Cameron Diaz was paid a whopping USD18mil for her starring role in the film. USD18mil!!!!! And all she did was smile that wonderful smile, appear in her undies for a little while and looked pretty! Hey, I know many girls who can and is willing to do that as well for a much lesser fee! You know who you are!!!!

And Ms Diaz is not even the highest paid actress in Tinseltown as Reese Witherspoon is rumoured to be getting USD22mil for her latest film. Actors like Tom Cruise are paid in the region of USD25m per movie. Some people have all the luck!

My question is : Do you think they deserve it? What about athletes like NBA star Lebron James(USD21m per season) or former F1 driver Michael Schumacher(USD80m for 18 races). Do u think they deserve them? I am thinking no. What abt u?

Football supporters!

Decorate your blog a bitlah!

A female friend of mine called me this morning and said this about my blog, "Your topics quite interesting but decorate your blog a bitlah!"(Mind you, she's not the first!). I said "Got a lot of color wat. Nice to look at mah". She said I got no "Interior Design" talents! She goes on to add, "Your house got rainbow colours ah?". Sheepishly, I said no. "That's my pointlah". I told her i have the piture of my fav football team's stand mah. She said, "The Kop sounds like a jail lah". Wait till I get my hands on you.......;..

Errrrrrr...ok, what do you mean decorate? I asked. She told me to put some pics, this, that and a thousand other things that sounded a little foreign to me. But I guess it is constructive criticism! Maklumlah, I am still new to this. will try to do this but realised that I don't really know what to do! I really don have ID talents. So, any kind of help is welcome!

PS : Interesting how not a single guy has mentioned about "decorating" blogs. Males are such simple species. Give us a good football game, a beer in hand, some snacks, a good sofa set and we'll be satisfied. Women will prob wan to watch good-looking men in tight football jersies, beer in a nice glass, low-fat and low-calory snacks and a designer sofa set!

Nuff said and waiting to be bashed!

Penangites punished!

The BN-led govt's systematic retaliation and punishment of states choosing the Pakatan continues with their so-called "Deferment" of the Monorail and the Penang Outer Ring Road(PORR) project. But the reason given by both our top leaders, Bodoh-wi and Nah-jeeb is beyond believe! It has been deferred because the projects are not "People centred"! Here is Bodoh-wi's defintion of people-centred :

"Priority will be given to people centric-projects - projects which provide basis amenities and which impart direct benefit to the people, such as water supply, electricity, health facilities, education, low-cost public housing, poverty eradication and public safety," he said today.

Mr Pee-Em, here are my questions :

a)Doesn't the monorail reduce the dangers of accidents? (Public safety)
b)With the spiralling costs of fuel, wouldn't these projects help reduce costs for the public in terms of travelling time and ease of movement? (Direct benefit to the people)
c)When these two projects were conceived, wasn't it supposed to help the people of Penang? Who did you intend it for? Goats and cows?
d)So is your Iskandar Development Region in Johor going to be deferred as well?

To the people in Penang, Perak, Selangor, Kedah, Kelantan and the Federal Territories :

BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID!

Ruthless German efficiency!

Some things just don't change! The Germans always seem to do well in big soccer tournaments. Like or dislike them, they're always consistently in the semis, finals or winning it altogether. Unlike our national football team who is pretty consistent as well : Consistently slipping down the rankings of world football! Why the FAM keeps sending our coaches and players for attachments in England i will never understand! FAM, England have only won once on their home ground and since then have not even had a sniff at it again! So get smart and send them to Germany.

The Germans play simple football and I am just puzzled why the world doesn't copy their recipe for success. Is it because they breed certain types of players that other countries can't? They never had amazingly skilful players like a Pele, a Maradona, a Ronaldo etc. Yet they are so successful in World Cup campaigns.

The same goes for their automobile industry. BMW, Mercedes Benz etc are top names which are really still unmatched in terms of quality and brand name. The clowns in DBKL recently sent a 15 member team for a "Lawatan Sambil Belajar" trip to Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and whatever "Tan" there is to learn about their transportation systems! Do u believe that??? And when they returned, what did they do? Increase parking rates and extend the times where parking fees are chargeable!

Anyway, will be rooting for Spain in tonite's 2nd semifinal. Wouldn't be too heartbroken if the Russians make it through as they play attractive football as well. Just hope the winners will then rip apart that efficient machine that is Germany!

Women are a special species!

A friend of mine told me what happened to him over the weekend and it had me laughing so hard that I just have to share it :

It was on Sunday at abt 11am and my fren was still in bed. Suddenly, his sister, who had just bought a new car 3 mths ago called him on the phone and started panicking. This was how the conversation went :

Sis : Bro, pls help me. I have a puncture and I donno wat to do.
Bro : Where are you?
Sis : In Bangsar
Bro : Is there a petrol station nearby?
Sis : Yes. Can't u come and help me?
Bro : Aiya, puncture small thinglah. Ask the petrol station fellas to help u lah!
Sis : What can the petrol station fella do? I need you to come pick me and I will leave the car here.
Bro : What? Just get them to help u lah!
Sis : How to help?
Bro : Ask them to take the spare tyre and replace the punctured onelah!
Sis : Spare tyre? What spare tyre?

She didn't even know there was a spare tyre in her car!!!

The power of Facebook

I am sure many are familiar with Facebook. Its proponents will say that it is the best invention ever! I am not too familiar with its functions or what it can do altho I do have an account(Sadly, I hardly ever use it).

While meeting w some friends, the topic of Facebook came up and I started to find out more abt it. The regular users mentioned that they got in touch with so many long-lost friends via facebook. I thot it incredible. When I found out how it was done, a question arose in my mind. What if you do not want to rekindle the friendship for some reason or another with the friend who contacted you or vice-versa? It's not like you can say I did not get yr sms etc. Would I be a hypocrite by continue correpondence and what not? Hmmmmm.....

And then I was told about how you could poke, send invites, fight and a thousand other things you can do on facebook. When I asked one of them how much time a day they spent on facebook and the answer astounded me! He spent an average of 5 hours a day on it!!!! That's 35 hrs a week and 140 hrs a month. Oh don forget, add another 5hrs for each sat and sun and the grand total comes to 180 hours! That's seven and a half days in a month! Gosh, couldn't that time be spent more productively? In their defence, they mentioned that their number of friends have increased by leaps and bounds b'cos of facebook. Well, I guess no one can tell you how to run your life but yourself.

Maybe one day when I have earned my millions, I will start "Facebook-ing", if there's such a term. For now, I will stick to blogging.......

Free water - To give or not to give?

I was reading a few very interesting blogs that was having discussions with regard to the Selangor state govt giving the first 20m cube of water free. The % for and against it are almost equal.

I am of the opinion that this shd not be done if the objective of the state govt is to help the poor. 20m cube translates to RM11.40 a month. Let's face it, the majority of the population in the state of Selangor will have no problems paying this amount. The amount of subsidy paid by the state will be RM11 million a month, or rm132 million a year. If the objective really is to help the poor, then I think this amount shd be used in a more effective way where only the poor benefit. Maybe they cld devise a way to actually give cash to the poor etc.

I also feel that this would lead to a wastage of one of our most precious natural resources. I can actually foresee people washing their cars more often etc.

Well this is just one man's opinion!

So, is Anwar lying?

Remember Anwar Ibrahim said that the Pakatan Rakyat will form the next Govt by Sept this year? I read that with a pinch of salt and wondered if it was ever going to happen. Furthermore, the current govt have done their utmost best to appease the Sabah and Sarawak ppl with all sorts of goodies announced recently. I thot, there goes his master plan.

Surprise! I am sure many are aware of the saga concerning SAPP's intent to motion a vote of no-confidence against our PM. Could this be a start of many more to come? The SAPP will almost certainly be expelled from the BN. It has only 2 MPs but it is a start.

So, u think Anwar has a hance of forming the next govt or is it just a lot of hot air? My thot in the beginning was hot air but I am not sure now.....

David Silva? I thot David Villa!

Just read in the Liverpool site today that Rafa Benitez is trying to buy David Silva, not David Villa as rumoured. He is offering 20 mil quid! What??? Wouldn't that amount be sufficient to get David Villa? I think Rafa has got a knock in the head! This is what so infuriates hard-core Liverpool fans like me over the years!

2 down, 2 to go!

As I mentioned in my earlier posting, the teams that play attractive football always seem to get knocked out in the later stages. It has happened again with Croatia this morning. Damn! Looks like Holland and Spain may be heading the same way too as Russia and Italy seem to be peaking just at the right time! Life is so cruel!!!

Thanks Riise!

John Arne Riise was finally sold today to Roma for 4 mil pounds. I have a soft spot for him b'cos he scored all those thunderbolts from distance throughout the years. Thank you Riise and good luck in Roma!

Who's next? Crouchy?

Pool or snooker?

Had a long discussion with a friend of mine yesterday with regard to both pool and snooker. He only plays pool while I am oklah at both. He insists that pool is a much tougher game compared to snooker. His reasoning? According to him, when he plays pool, he is always a "little high"(In his own words) or completely drunk altogether! Good reasoning, I thot!!!!! And then he adds, on top of that, since pool tables are always in bars, he has to use one eye to concentrate on pretty women around the pool table!!! That leaves him with just 50% sight on top of being "High"! I said ok, you win! Can't argue with that!

I happened to catch the Asian pool League that was shown on ESPN recently. It was good but what amazed me was the prize money. The champion walked away with USD15,000 and there are 9 legs covering 5 mths. The one I caught was in Genting and it was the 3rd leg. The same guy had also won the first 2 legs. He won USD45,000 in 5 weeks! Compare that to badminton where the average prize money for the Men's singles champion in the Super Series is just USD12,000! So why sweat and toil and risk injuries playing badminton earning so much less?? Might as well play pool, drink beer, ogle at women and earn more! Amazingly, the women players in pool earn as much as the men, but only in the States. And they look really good, too!

So dads and moms out there, time to consider pool as a career choice for your kids!

For heavy metal fans only!

Go to http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/listoftheday and check out the list 0f 25 best heavy metal bands ever. Have fun!

See AD, even if I don't listen to heavy metal, I still help spread the joy of music!!!

Nothing like watching Live!!!

I was at Ruums KL last nite supporting a friend of mine in the "So You Think You Can Dance" competition. I used to watch it on TV but decided to experience it live. What an experience! It was exciting, fun and really boisterous! During commercials, they had competitions, ad hoc performances and many others to enjoy! To make it even better, my friend Farah breezed into the next round with one of the performances of the night! Keep it up girl!

Now, I need to go to Anfield............

PS : Anyone out there has any live experience to share?

My worse fears starting to come true!

When Euro started everyone was ooh and ahh-ing performances by Spain, Holland, Portugal and Croatia. I told them, as proven in many previous tournaments, gd performances in early rounds normally end with a whimper in later rounds. In later rounds, it is normally the fundamentally sound teams like the Germans or Italians who make it through. And damn! It's happening again as Portugal got soundly beaten this morning by the Germans. And Ronaldo was marked out of the game completely! So Real Madrid, he ain't worth what you intend to pay MU for!

Holland, Spain : Please win!

Hats off to you Mr Woods!

This golf phenomenon that is Tiger Woods continues to amaze and astound everyone. I am not a big golf fan but after reading the circumstances in which he won his latest golf major, my amazement reached a new level.

Tiger had a knee operation 2 months backand he is not even 80% fit. Yet he still managed to win one of the toughest golf tournaments in the world! Imagine if he was 100%!

Congrats Mr Woods!

Return of the Cave People!

Most of you may already be aware of the headlines today with regard to the PAS youth wing who are protesting against our Dangdut and Rock queens, Mas Idayu and Ella, performing at the Sultan of Selangor's football tournament. Gosh! Why do we still have caveman living among our midst??? The Sultan of Selangor has rightly told them to basically ##@@ off! Both these artistes have never before broken any rules with regard to dressing, so wat the fook? I can't remember any PAS-led protest when BAYWATCH was screened on TV some time back. Maybe they were too busy catching the show to protest! Muahahahahaha...........

Got me RM625 rebate!

Yes, yes got my rebate today. The whole process took like 30 seconds but the waiting was abt an hour(still fast considering there was 128 ppl ahd of me when I took my number). Kudos to the staff in the Kelana Jaya Post Office. They were very efficient and courteous too.

One note of caution! Please ensure that you have no unpaid summons cos your claim will be rejected if there are unpaid ones. Some encountered this. Poor guys!

Would advice those eligible to go get yours as the govt has announced that they are looking into introducing a rebate card(Yes, another one of their ad hoc plans) to replace this scheme. So go get your cash fast!!!

Bye Bye Torres???

Have been coming across articles over the past few days that Chelsea's new boss "Teddy Bear" Scolari is planning to splash out 40mil pounds to bring Fernando Torres to Stamford Bridge. Hope our idiotic American owners knows what's good for them and not allow the sale to go thru. At least Torres has been saying positively that he wants to stay at Anfield and will not leave. Unlike the SCUMbag from Portugal who wants to leave a certain SCUM Team for Real Madrid!

If in the unlikeliest event that Torres does go, I don see who we can buy for 40mil who is as good as him!

Please stay Torres!

Co-incidence or sign of the times?

I went to a hawker centre near my place for breakfast yesterday. This place is normally packed on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Surprisingly, only half the place was filled. I passed the same place again this morning and once again it was only half-full. I also went to Tesco today(Sunday) and it was surprisingly quiet for a weekend. Is this a sign that Malaysians are starting to cut down on spending?

As for me, me and wifey have pledged to eat out less and to try to cut out on unnecessary expenses(Beers included, sigh!). We are also staying more at home more instead of going out "Jalan-jalan" on the weekends. Anyone doing anything different?

More roti canais and teh tariks for me!

Enuf lor! I have been winning so many Euro bets (Just roti canai and teh tarik onlylah) that I think I will have high cholesterol and diabetes by the time I am done with them! David Villa scored a last minute goal last nite and Russia edged Greece 1-0 to win me another 4 Rotis and 2 Teh Tariks. Now, if only I had bet with money....... Would probably have covered petrol costs for abt 3 months! Damn!!!

This is what you have been taxed for! Sakit Hati!

I came across this article in one blog which an anonymous writer contributed. Can't get in touch with him/her but would like to say, "Great job in compiling this list!". Do spread it if you wish :

Looking at the list below, it looks like the BN government are more determined to help themselves rather than the citizens. And this list below is not even barely exhaustive as these are the ones uncovered – the tip of the ice-berg, if you might want to put it! What lies beneath could be much larger:-

1. The Bank Bumiputra twin scandals in the early 1980s saw US$1 billion (RM3.2 billion in 2008 ringgit)

2. The Maminco attempt to corner the world tin market in the 1980s is believed to have cost some US$500 million. (RM1.6 billion)

3. Betting in foreign exchange futures cost Bank Negara Malaysia RM30 billion in the 1990s.

4. Perwaja Steel resulted in losses of US$800 million (RM2.56 billion). Eric Chia, was charged with corruption for allegedly steering US$20 million (RM64 million) to a Hong Kong-based company

5. Use of RM10 billion public funds in the Valuecap Sdn. Bhd. operation to shore up the stock market

6. Banking scandal of RM700 million losses in Bank Islam

7. The sale of M.V. Agusta by Proton for one Euro making a loss of €75.99 million (RM 348 million)

8. Wang Ehsan from oil royalty on Terengganu RM7.4 billion from 2004 – 2007

9. For the past 10 years since Philharmonic Orchestra was established, this orchestra has swallowed a total of RM500 million

10. In Advisors Fees, Mahathir was paid RM180,000, Shahrizat Abdul Jalil (women and social development affairs) RM404,726 and Abdul Hamid Othman (religious) RM549,675 per annum

11. The government has spent a total of RM3.2 billion in teaching Maths and Science in English over the past five years. Out of the amount, the government paid a whopping RM2.21 billion for the purchase of information and computer technology (ICT) equipments which it is unable to give a breakdown.

12. The commission paid for purchase of jets and submarines to two private companies Perimeker Sdn Bhd and IMT Defence Sdn Bhd amounted to RM910 million.

13. RM300 million to compensate Gerbang Perdana for the RM1.1 billion “Crooked Scenic Half-Bridge”

14. RM1.3 billion have been wasted building the white elephant Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) facilities on cancellation of the Malaysia-Singapore scenic bridge

15. RM 100 million on renovation of Parliament building and leaks

16. National Astronaut Programme - RM 40 million

17. National Service Training Programme - yearly an estimate of RM 500 million

18. Eye on Malaysia - RM 30 million and another RM5.7 million of free ticket

19. RM 4.63 billion, ’soft-loan’ to PKFZ

20. RM 2.4 million on indelible ink

21. Samy announced in September 2006 that the government paid compensation amounting to RM 38.5 billion to 20 highway companies. RM 380 million windfalls for 9 toll concessionaires earned solely from the toll hike in 2008 alone.

22. RM32 million timber export kickbacks involving companies connected to Sarawak Chief Minister and his familyBailouts –

23. Two bailouts of Malaysia Airline System RM7.9 billion. At a time when MAS incurring losses every year, RM1.55 million used to buy three paintings to decorate its chairman's (Munir) office.

24. Putra transport system bailout which cost RM4.486 billion

25. STAR-LRT bailout costing RM3.256 billion

26. National Sewerage System bailout costing RM192.54 million

27. Seremban-Port Dickson Highway bailout costing RM142 million

28. Kuching Prison bailout costing RM135 million

29. Kajian Makanan dan Gunaan Orang Islam bailout costing RM8.3 million

30. Le Tour de Langkawi bailout costing RM 3.5 Million

31. Wholesale distribution of tens of millions of shares in Bursa Malaysia under guise of NEP to cronies, children and relatives of BN leaders and Ministers worth billions of ringgits.

32. APs scandal had been going on year-after-year going back for more than three decades, involving a total mind-boggling sum of tens of billions of ringgits

33. Alienation of tens of thousands of hectares of commercial lands and forestry concessions to children and relatives of BN leaders and Ministers worth tens of billions of ringgits

34. Travel around Malaysia and see for yourself how many white elephants like majestic arches, roads paved with fanciful bricks, designer lamp posts, clock towers, Municipal Council buildings that looks more like Istanas, extravagant places of worship, refurbishment of residences of VIPs, abandoned or under-utilised government sports complexes and buildings, etc! Combined they could easily amount to the hundreds of billions of ringgits!

35. Since 1997, Petronas has handed out a staggering 30 billion ringgit in natural gas subsidies to IPPs who were making huge profits. In addition, there were much wastages and forward trading of Petronas oil in the 1990s based on the low price of oil then. Since the accounts of Petronas are for the eyes of Prime Minister only, we have absolutely no idea of the amount. Whatever amount, you bet it is COLLOSSAL!

In Time Asia magazine issue on March 15 2004, South East Asian economist at Morgan Stanley in Singapore Daniel Lian, figures “that the country may have lost as much as U$$100 billion (RM320 billion) since the early 1980s to corruption.” Mind you, this is only corruption and it does not include wastages and mismanagements which could be higher! If the above list (which represent moneys saved) is added to the nation’s coffer and together with Petronas profits, palm oil profits and profits from rubber, tin, agriculture produce, aquaculture produce, electronic and hardware exports, etc, for the past 5 decades, we can all agree on one thing - our country could be wealthier than Venezuela who has little resources except for oil. The petrol in Venezuela is RM0.16 per litre!

Light hearted

Time for a good laugh! Just love these cartoons, especially Mr Visa. Anyone out there got any jokes to share?

How lucky we are!

Notice how we are never satisfied with what we have? We always want a bigger house, a better car, eat better food and even drink better beer or wine. We are always complaining. Just found out the sorry plight of one of the cleaners in my apartment.

This lady's husband, who is a lorry driver, had just met an accident recently and is paralysed waist down. He made a SOCSO claim for insurance but was turned down for some technicality. How cruel! They have four school-going children with the eldest one at 12 years old. They are now depending on her salary which is a miserly RM650 a month. Also found out that they are renting a house for RM300. Which leaves RM350 for everything else!!! How do they manage? And yet this quiet, unassuming Indian lady goes on with her job without fuss. Found out from the other cleaners that she is actually having a tough time getting basic necessities and is applying for welfare from a few associations but has failed.

I have decided to actually raise some money among family and friends and help a fellow M'sian in need. Will then go get canned food, basic necessities and others from Tesco and send it to her home.

So everyone, be thankful for what you have and spare a thot for some who are really in need. I know I will.

Anyone reading this and wants to contribute can contact me directly.

Go Holland Go 2!!!!

Whoopeeeee!!!!! This Euro has really given us plenty of games of high quality and last nite's Holland-France was another one. Altho the 4-1 victory for Holland may say otherwise, but it was a well-balanced game. France played pretty well too. Bravo Holland as you once again showed what attacking football was all about. And please don disappoint your loyal supportes like me once again by screwing it up in the knockout stages. Romania did well too by holding Italy to a draw. I had predicted in the beginning that the current world champions and runners-up could get knocked out in this Group of Death and it is starting to materialise! What a great game football is! Can't wait for Sweden-Spain later 2nite!
